FSANZ Submission to Allow Hemp Foods in Australia and New Zealand

Send your support for FSANZ to legalise Hemp foods to

Please submit your endorsement by February 1st 2012!

Lost for words? Here's what I wrote in 5 minutes!

"I am writing to express my sincere and strong endorsement and commendation for FSANZ to allow Hemp as food. Hemp is a highly nutritious food source, with all the essential omega fatty acids, amino acids, vitamins and protein necessary for healthy human life. In fact, no other single food source is as nutritiously sound as Hemp seeds. Hemp is legally consumed all around the world, it is time Australia and New Zealand got on board and allowed this marvellous food source. Hemp is also an environmentally sound crop - it nourishes the soil in which its grown and produces oxygen, it is insect and fungus repellent and is an annual crop. Not only will hemp food stimulate good health for our citizens and environment, but it will also massively benefit our economy and create jobs for thousands of people. I want to raise my children in a country where the best food is available and hemp food is a major part of that! Say YES to HEMP FOODS - for the good of the country!"

56 Arrested At Summadayze Festival In Melbourne

To ring in the New Year, we have more propaganda from the prohibitionist agenda! This was a line that particularly stood out for me:

"There is no such thing as a safe party drug and people put their lives at risk taking illegal drugs", Senior Sergeant Damien Christensen said.

What about the most popular party drug - alcohol, which runs up massive costs to the community and police resources and is the source of countless violence and destruction on a weekly basis. This drug doesn't even get a mention. Alcohol is the most common cause of violence, while Cannabis is a much safer option, alcohol kills and harms thousands of people a year. Cannabis has never caused a single death, and does not lead to violence. Lines like this just propogate the idea of 'good drugs' and 'bad drugs' - legal drugs are okay, but illegal ones, oh no, they're far more dangerous.. (not)

"Recent figures released by the State Government show that the sniffer dogs are often mistaken. This year NSW Police have conducted more than 14,000 searches on people after sniffer dogs reacted to the potential presence of illegal drugs. In over 11,000 of those causes, illicit substances were not found, meaning that 4 times out of 5 the dogs get it wrong."

This system isn't protecting anyone. It is ineffective, unreliable and runs at a massive cost and inconvenience to people like you and me and squanders valuable police resources. It is the violent people who should be focused on and dealt with - NOT people who AREN'T hurting anyone else.
How much longer will we subject ourselves to this embarrassing farce?
